๐Ÿ“ฐ Relaunch News

Today, Chase relaunched the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and introduced the new Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business®. The launch was pre-announced last week, but it's officially live today. While the new cards come with a higher annual fee, they've added a ton of new benefits that I personally think exceed the cost of the card. In fact, we'll probably be getting at least two of these in our household.

Even better, both cards current have incredible new welcome bonuses worth thousands of dollars. At a minimum, you could get $1,500+ redeeming at Chase Travel. However, I've consistency been able to get at least 1.7¢ transferring to partners like Hyatt or United, which means these welcome bonuses could be worth $1,700 to $3,400 or more.

Welcome Bonus: This feels like a throwback to the original launch in 2016, where a 100,000 point welcome bonus was offered, except this time, you'll also get a $500 Chase Travel credit after spending $5,000 in 3 months. This is an excellent welcome bonus!

Annual Fee Jump: The annual fee increased by $245 from $550 to $795. However, the new perks and credits (see below) will easily be worth >$300 to me, so I'm actually quite delighted by the changes.

Eligibility: You are eligible for this card even if you already have a Chase Sapphire Preferred card, which wasn't previously the case.

New Earning Structure

  • 8x points on Chase Travel
  • 4x points on flights and hotels booked direct
  • 3x points on dining, including eligible delivery
  • 5x points on Lyft (through 9/30/27)
  • 1x points on all other purchases

Previously this card earned 3x points on all travel, but if most of your travel spend is on flights and hotels, this is a big improvment. However if you spend a lot on Airbnb, Vrbo or Cruises, this might be a downgrade.

Authorized User Fee: The authorized user fee is now $195, but they’ll still get lounge access.

Annual Perks and Credits: Chase is going all-in on the perks and credits to make up for the higher fee.

  • $300 Travel Credit (as a statement credit for travel purchases)
  • $500 “The Edit” credit ($250/6mo) for 2+ night stays at Chase's luxury hotel portfolio
  • $300 Dining Credit ($150/6mo) for restaurants from Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables
  • $300 StubHub Credit ($150/6mo)
  • $120 Peloton Credit ($10/mo)
  • $120 Lyft Credit ($10/mo)
  • $120 Global Entry/TSA PreCheck Credit (ever 4 years)
  • Doordash: $5/mo restaurants and 2x $10/mo for other deliveries
  • Free Apple Music and Apple TV+
  • Free IHG Platinum status
  • Free Priority Pass Select membership with access to Chase Sapphire Lounges

Bonus perks if you spend ≥$75K/year

  • IHG Diamond status (includes free breakfast)
  • Southwest A-List
  • $500 Southwest credit
  • $250 The Shops at Chase credit

This card is very similar to the personal card with some key differences:

Welcome Bonus: The business version is offering twice as many points (200,000) after spending 30,000 in 6 months. This is the largest welcome bonus I've ever seen from Chase, so if you can meet the spending requirements it will be quite rewarding!

Additions

  • 3x points on social media and search engine advertising
  • $400 ZipRecruiter Credit ($200/6mo)
  • $200 Google Workspace Credit
  • $100 Giftcards.com Credit
  • No fee for Authorized Users

Not included

  • 3x Points on Dining
  • $300 Dining Credit
  • $300 StubHub Credit
  • $120 Peloton Credit
  • Free Apple Music/TV+
  • Lounge access for Authorized Users

Bonus perks: After spending a higher amount ≥$120k/year, you'll get the same perks as the personal card, except you'll get a $500 credit for The Shops at Chase instead of $250.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Points Boost: A New Redemption Model

One of the biggest changes to the program is how you can redeem your Ultimate Rewards points. Previously, if you had a Chase Sapphire Reserve, points were worth 1.5¢ at Chase Travel. Starting 10/26/25 for existing cardholders (and immediately for new cardholders), all points earned will only be worth 1¢, unless you use the new Points Boosts program. All points earned prior to that date

Points Boost lets you get up to 2¢ of value per point when booking select flights and hotels, including:

  • Premium cabins with airlines like United, Southwest, Emirates, Singapore, and more
  • Hotels in The Edit
  • Select economy flights (excluding basic economy)

Note for existing cardholders: all points earned prior to 10/26/25 will be redeemable for 1.5¢ at Chase Travel until 10/26/27.

๐Ÿ’ญ Final Thoughts

Overall, I think the new Chase Sapphire Reserve® is actually a solid upgrade, if you’re able to take advantage of the new perks. Yes, the higher annual fee and more complex rewards structure won’t be for everyone, and it does start to feel a bit like a coupon book. But if you already use services like Apple TV+, Peloton, or dine at included restaurants, the value can easily outweigh the fee.

As for the new Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business®, I’m less excited about the credits, but the welcome bonus is very enticing. I'm pretty sure we'll be adding one or two of them in our household :).
